Managing Content: IESR Editor Administration
The IESR Data Editor provides several functions to enable management of content. To access these functions, login to the Editor as 'admin'.
Contributors' Records
A particular Contributor's records may be displayed or updated by first selecting the Contributor from the 'select list' on the Admin entry page.
Quality Assurance Tagging
The value of the 'status' property can be set via the 'Edit' page when logged in as Admin. The Content Manager can set the status to 'approved' after they have checked a record and are statisfied with its quality. The status can also be set to 'forreview' when a Contributor has been asked to review their record; and to 'deprecated' if the Contributor does not respond to the review request after a suitable amount of time.
Some status values are set atuomatically by the Editor. When a Contributor first creates a record, the status is set to 'created'. On subsequent edits, the status is set to 'edited'.
The QA process for requesting checking the currency of records after a designated time interval is currently manual, and controlled by the IESR Content Manager.
Registry Update
Two options are provided to trigger regeneration and indexing of the database:
- Add New Records to Registry
- Records that have been edited today (ie. since the last update) will be added to the Registry. This enables addition of new records to IESR immediately instead of waiting for the automatic overnight database update.
- Update Entire Registry
- Regenerate the entire Registry. This option is provided for situations such as corruption of the Cheshire database indexes.
Viewing New Records
The email alert sent to IESR staff when a Contributor commits a record contains a URL that enables display of the record's content.
