IESR Contributor Administration and Registration
1. Brief workflow
- 1.1 Potential Contributor contacts IESR in some way (eg. `express interest' form, email)
- 1.2 IESR Administrator assigns them a 3-letter key and a short username (they can change the username when they first register, but not the key).
- 1.3 IESR Administrator gives Contributor 3-letter key and address of Registration form and asks them to register.
- 1.4 Contributor registers details
- 1.5 Contributor uses Editor to supply records (they must register before they can use the Editor).
2. IESR Contributor Admin
Access URL: http://iesr.ac.uk/service/contribadmin?do=top
[There is a quick link from http://iesr.ac.uk/test/editor/contribadmin.html]
This is meant for IESR internal use only and can be accessed from MC machines only (add to DoAdmin.cpp if more are needed).
Functions of the Admin interface are:
- 2.1 Select `Add New Contributor' to begin registration of a new Contributor:
- 2.1.1 Assign a 3-letter lowercase key for the Contributor. This is for the internal working of IESR. It is simply a unique key.
- 2.1.2 Assign a username. This should be a short name for the contributing organisation. They can change this themselves when they first register but not later.
- 2.2 Report. This lists contributors and their registered details (including password).
- 2.3 Select `Add New Harvestee' to register a new Contributor by harvest:
- 2.3.1 Assign a 3-letter lowercase key for the Contributor. This is for the internal working of IESR. It is simply a unique key.
- 2.3.2 Organisation name
- 2.3.3 Harvest Protocol. OAI-PMH is currently the only general option, but particular options are provided for OpenDOAR harvesting and DRAI input via a URL
- 2.3.4 Harvest URL: the base URL of the service
- 2.3.5 Metadata Namespace: as detailed in ListMetadataFormats (to be used in provenance details)
- 2.3.6 Metadata Prefix for the harvesting: as detailed in ListMetadataFormats
- 2.3.7 Set Spec if a particular set is to be used for the harvesting (optional)
- 2.4 'Update Harvest' to update Harvestee details
- 2.5 Add Contributor IP. This allows the registration of IP restrictions for access by a Contributor to the Editor. [This is probably best ignored at present - so it is in this IESR internal admin interface, so not to confuse users. But it is there if needed in the future.] IP addresses should be added exact or as eg. 123.456.*
3. IESR Contributor Registration
Access URL: http://iesr.ac.uk/service/contribregister?do=top
[There is a quick link from http://iesr.ac.uk/test/editor/contribregister.html for IESR internal use only.]
This service allows Contributors to Register, and then later update their details. They have to Register - with the assigned 3-letter key - before they can use the other functions (if they try they'll be led to the `register' option) or the Editor.
Options are:
- 3.1 Register.
Required details are:- 3.1.1 User name - short name (can be changed on first registration but not later). This is the User name for login to the Editor.
- 3.1.2 Password
- 3.1.3 Persistent URI (eg home page URL). This cannot be changed after first registration.
- 3.1.4 Agree to Licence
- 3.1.5 Reminder Frequency
- 3.1.6 One Contact person
- 3.1.7 One Contact email
- 3.2 Update Details
All details except Username, password (use next option), persistent URI and licence agreement (ie. it is required only once) can be changed. - 3.3 Change Password
4. Demo Editor Registration
There is a similar registration system for the Demo Editor.
